Day 2: A mixed day for India at Yonex Denmark Open 2013

Day 2 of Yonex Denmark Open, i.e. 16th October 2013 proved to be a modest day for Indian performers and badminton lovers.

Starting of the day was a bit disappointing where P.V. Sindhu was knocked out by the Japanese opposition by 19-21 and 20-22. She tried her level best and gave a neck to neck fight to her opponent. Despite her hard fought battle she lost in a 50 minute clash.

In the next Indian encounter Gurusaidutt R.M.V. defeated Yun Hu of Hong Kong by 21-17 and 21-14. It was a dominating performance by the Indian shuttler and by this win he entered the second round of tournament.

Kashyap Parupalli playing in the Men’s Singles category cleared the first round, as his Malaysian opponent retired in the middle of the game.

In the next match of Women’s Singles, Arundhati Pantawane lost to Xuerui Li of China and disappointed her fans. Soon after, in the following match of this category, the Indian Superstar Saina Nehwal, the World number 4, defeated Stefani Stoeva from Bulgaria by 21-16 and 21-12. The match lasted less than an hour. The Defending champion Saina Nehwal will take on Scottish Smasher Kirsty Gilmour in her next round.

In the Men’s Singles category, Ajay Jayaram defeated Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand by 21-11 and 21-14. He dominated throughout the match and made an easy way to victory.

Manu attri and Sumeeth Reddy B. were also figured out of the tournament by a 14-21 and 14-21 defeat by German opponents Michael Fuchs and Johannes Schoettler.

Anand Pawar was the last one to represent India on Day 2 of this tournament. Pawar failed against the World no. 2, as Chinese smasher Long Chen dominated throughout the game and registered a win by 21-11 and 21-6.

Ultimately, 16th October, 2013 proved to be a day with mixed results for Indian players. Gurusaidutt, Kashyap, Ajay Jayaram, Saina Nehwal progressed to the 2nd round.
