Saina Nehwal retained her World No. 1 ranking last week

World No.1 Saina Nehwal has expressed delight over Prime Minister Narendra Modi heaping praises on her for reaching the number one ranking in the world. Despite losing in the quarterfinals of the Badminton Asia Championship last week, the 25-year-old maintained her numero uno spot when the latest ranking was released last week.
"It is an honour to be mentioned by the Honourable Prime Minister (in his radio address)," Saina said on Sunday.

Speaking on his monthly radio show, “Mann Ki Baat”, on Sunday, Mr Modi expressed pride in both Saina as well as fellow Hyderabadi Sania Mirza, reaching the top spot.
"I am proud to say that two daughters of the country have brought glory...I congratulate them and all other daughters of the country. We all feel proud," he said.
Saina’s father, Harvir Singh said that they would like to donate a sum of 2 lakh rupees to the Prime Minster’s relief fund towards the victims of the disastrous earthquake, that struck Nepal on Saturday.
