The second day looked balanced when Anand Pawar, the World No. 33 emerged victorious against Thomas Rouxel. In the initial matches that took place in the morning session on 23rd October, 2013, India started the day with a couple of defeats. Following this, PV Sindhu registered first victory against Ji Hyun Sung.
Pawar defeated Brice Leverdez and Joachim Persson while Thomas defeated Suppanyu Avihingsanon and Christian Lind Thomsen in their qualification round matches on Tuesday, 22nd October, 2013.
Anand Pawar dominated over the French smasher Thomas Rouxel in the first game of the match. He managed to seal the game easily by 21-9. Anand was right on the top in the complete game and didn’t allow the opponent to overcome him.
The second game of the match witnessed a close fight between the contestants. The score was leveled several times in the complete game and went for the deuce situation. Thomas came back with a boosted performance and gave a tough fight to the Indian smasher. But at the crucial moments of the tie-breaker, it was Anand Pawar who kept his calm and registered the game in his name. He won the second game by 24-22. The match lasted for 37 minutes.
Anand will be representing India in the second round clash of the Men’s Singles tomorrow.
In the Women’s Singles category, Indian sensation Saina Nehwal was back on the court after her defeat against Ji Hyun Sung of Korea in the Yonex French Open 2013.
In the first game of the match, Saina looked weak throughout the game. The Thai smasher Nichaon Jindapon dominated the complete game and the World No.4 Saina was forced to surrender against the agile Thai attack. Saina lost the game by 12-21.
The India shuttler Saina began with a commanding performance in the second game and managed to lead the game till the first 8 points. Nichaon tried to revert back in the game and leveled the score by 12-12. Her courageous attempt went in vain when Saina raced to finish the game in her favour by 21-16.
Saina began the quest on a positive node and was leading the decisive game by 7-3 initially. Nichaon made a comeback and leveled the scoreboard by 12-12. In the crucial stage of the game, Saina took no time to accelerate and didn’t look back to bag the game by 21-13.
She once again proved herself bringing joy for the supporters by advancing to the second round of the Women’s Singles category of the Yonex French Open 2013.
