The main draw action at the seventh edition of the $325,000 India Open Superseries in New Delhi will begin on Wednesday. With this being the biggest annual international badminton event in India, the excitement of the Indian fans will be high to see if any homegrown player can clinch the title.
All eyes will be on the country’s top two shuttle queens, Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu. The two are slated to meet each other in the quarter-finals which promises to be a blockbuster affair. While Nehwal has won this event two times, Sindhu is still looking for her first title.
In the men’s singles section, 2015 champion Srikanth Kidambi is looking to climb his way back to the higher echelons of the sport after an ankle injury robbed him of a chunk of the season last year, resulting in a free fall in the rankings.
