K Srikanth suffered a second consecutive second-round loss

India’s Kidambi Srikanth bowed out of the 2015 Chinese Taipei Open after losing a close encounter to Ihsan Maulana Mustofa of Indonesia 21-18 21-19 in the second round on Thursday.

The opening game proved to be a nail-biting affair as both players continued to exchange leads, right from the beginning, matching one another point-for-point, but the Indian failed to hold on to his nerve at the 18-18 mark, losing out on the advantage as Mustofa, first won 2 points to take 2 game point opportunities and then converted them on the first chance that he got to take the first game 21-18.

The second game began on a lot more positive note for Srikanth as he raced away to an early 4-1 lead, but Mustafa came roaring back into the contest to first square the tie at 4-4 and then won 6 out of the next 7 points to go 10-5 up. Following that surge in points, he kept the pressure on Srikanth, not letting him take control at any stage and eventually took the game 21-19 to knock the number 3 seed out of the tournament.

This is now the second straight instance where Srikanth has crashed out of a tournament in the second round.

Final Scoreline- Ihsan Maulana Mustofa(INA) beat Kidambi Srikanth(IND) 21-18 21-19
