Chen Kang, former World Championships silver medallist and member of China’s formidable badminton team, talks of the training regimen that has helped them dominate badminton as no other country has. Chen left home for the national camp when he was 12. He was the contemporary of greats like Yang Yang, Zhao Jianhua, Li Yongbo and Tian Bingyi. After his retirement in 1994, he was associated with the Australian team before joining Chinese Taipei, and has already created an impact, with Taipei producing several top-class players. Chen Kang sheds some light on a training system that’s little known to the world outside.
