Latest WBF rankings: Kashyap reaches career-high no. 6 spot, Saina retains no. 2 spot

Parupalli Kashyap moved up one spot to reach a career-high number six ranking in the men’s singles category in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on Thursday.

Kashyap had lost in the first round of the Yonex Sunrise Indian Open to former world number one Taufiq Hidayat in a gripping three-game affair.

However, badminton icon Saina Nehwal continues to cling on to her world number two ranking in the women’s singles category.

Like Kashyap, Saina is also taking part in the Yonex Sunrise Indian Open.

PV Sindhu moved up one spot to be placed 16th. Sindhu has reached the singles quarterfinals of the Yonex Sunrise Indian Open.

Among the other Indian men, Ajay Jayaram, who reached the third round of the recent New Zealand Open in Auckland, and also taking part in the Yonex Sunrise Indian Open, retained his number 30 position.

RMV Gurusaidutt jumped two spots to be placed 33th.

However, Sourabh Varma advanced two spots to be placed 36th.

Sourabh is also taking part in the Yonex Sunrise Indian Open and also last featured in the Swiss Open where he was sent packing in the opening round.

Sourabh earlier made it to the second round of the All England Badminton Championships.

Anand Pawar, who reached the third round of the Yonex Australian Open a week back, moved up two spots to be ranked 53rd.

B Sai Praneeth dropped two spots to be placed 62nd while K Srikanth moved up one spot to be placed 63rd.

HS Pranoy, who grabbed the eyeballs when he reached the semifinals of the Polish Open, before subsequently giving the Australian Open and New Zealand Open tournaments a miss, fell four places to occupy the 76th spot.

Arvind Bhat climbed two spots to be placed 82nd.

Old warhorse Chetan Anand, who once reached a career-high ranking of 14, fell climbed two spots to be placed 97th.

Anup Sridhar climbed two spots to be ranked 107th.

Arundhati Pantawane moved up three spots to be ranked 92nd. Arundhati fared well at the recent Polish Open, reaching the quarterfinals.

PC Thulsai, another semifinalist at the Polish Open advanced three spots to be ranked 93rd.

Tanvi Lad, who made it to the quarterfinals of the Polish Open, fell three spots to be placed 107th.

Sayali Gokhale moved up five spots to be placed 116th.

Sarada Jasti fell two spots to be ranked 118th.

Neha Pandit moved up three spots to be placed 147th.
