The Mumbai chapter of the PNB Metlife Corporate Badminton Championships comes to a close

The PNB Metlife was extended to a third weekend due to an exceptional response from corporates

The Mumbai chapter of PNB MetLife’s Corporate Badminton Championship recently concluded on 10th May 2015 at the Andheri Sports Complex with participants from corporates like Yes Bank, L&T, Reliance, Cognizant, TCS and Cognizant bagging top honours. Held over 3 weekends from 18th April to 10th May 2015, CBC received 650+ entries from over 100 different companies across 6 playing categories.

Extended to the third weekend due to an overwhelming response from corporates, Corporate Badminton Challenge ensured that the participants had a fun-filled time playing their favorite sport. The players had a wonderful time competing and interacting with each other. Playing, hooting and cheering for other players whilst they waited for their match, added to the electric atmosphere and created a sportive environment at the stadium.

Mr. Sujit Kamble, participant in Men’s Singles 40+ and Family Doubles category with his wife Mrs Sweta Kamble, braved an injury to compete in the final round and went on to become the champion in both the categories.

Mr. & Mrs. M. V. Tanksale were the chief guest during the closing ceremony. Mr. M. V. Tanksale is currently the Chief Executive of Indian Bank Association. While felicitating the winners, Mr. Tanksale appreciated the efforts taken by PNB MetLife towards healthy lifestyle by promoting the Sport Badminton amongst the corporate.

On this occasion Mr Tarun Chugh, MD & CEO, PNB MetLife Insurance, said, “Important aspects of life such as taking care of one’s health, playing a sport and generally doing things that make us happy have taken a back seat. We have the opportunity to bring the sport back to its status as a fun, family sport. We are working with the corporates to conduct these badminton tournaments and give people an opportunity to engage with friends and families in a competitive yet fun environment.”

Jitendra Joshi, CEO & founder of SportzConsult, while distributing the awards, said, “We continuously strive to provide a competitive environment and a platform for participants to perform and play.
