After an impressive opening day at the 2024 Uber Cup, the Indian women's team had another strong outing in Chengdu. Placed in Group A, India dominated Singapore today, having gotten the better of Canada yesterday.

The nation's lineup today remained the same as yesterday, with Ashmita Chaliha playing the opening women's singles and Anmol Kharb closing things out.

Yesterday, Chaliha got the better of higher-ranked Michelle Li in a major upset, giving India a winning start. However, she was unable to bring the same form to court today. Playing World No. 18 Yeo Jia Min, Chaliha fell in straight games, going down in just 30 minutes.

Taking to court for the first doubles of the day at the Uber Cup, Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra were quick to put India back on the winning track. Battling Singapore’s Xiao En Heng and Jin Yu Jia, they made easy work of their opponents, winning 21-15, 21-16 to avenge Chaliha’s loss.

Continuing the momentum for India was singles player Isharani Baruah and women's doubles duo Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker. Baruah took her straight-game win over Insyirah Khan in 31 minutes, while Singhi and Thaker needed only 25 to get the job done against Yi Ting Elsa Lai and Zan Michelle.

Closing out the day for India at a high was Anmol Kharb. The 17-year-old prodigy battled Lee Xin Yi Megan and won her match 21-15, 21-13.

With this, India has taken over China in the Group A standings at the Uber Cup to sit atop the rankings as of now. The host nation plays Canada later in the day, and their performance there will determine the final rankings of the day.
