India’s Parupalli Kashyap progressed through to the quarterfinals of the 2015 Indonesia Open, after inflicting 21-11 21-14 defeat on 5th seed Wan Ho Son of South Korea in the second round on Thursday.
Game 1 saw the Indian race off to an early 4-0 lead before this Korean opponent got off the mark with 2 consecutive points. The second game began on an even keel as both players looked to seize early momentum but the decisive turn in the match came when both players were tied 6-6 and Kashyap won 6 points consecutively to take a 12-6 lead. The Korean, though won the next 2 points straight to make it 12-8.
But Kashyap seemed to be in nom mood to relent as he went from being 13-10 to 19-10, by winning the next 6 points and all but sealing a place in the quarters. The formality was completed soon enough and World No.1 Chen Long now awaits Kashyap in the quarters.
The World No.12 took to his Twitter handle to dedicate the win to his supporters.
