India suffered an early jolt at the 2015 Indonesian Open on Wednesday, after World No.14 PV Sindhu crashed out in the opening round, losing 16-21 21-15 21-14 to Hsu Ya Ching of Chinese Taipei.
Game 1 saw the Indian begin on a positive note as she went from being 2-1 down to 4-2 up in the early stages and later on, fought back once again to take a 15-10 lead after being 8-10 down at one point. That surge in points proved just enough for her as she went on to the clinch the first game 21016.
The second game saw Hsu fight back very well, after being 3-1 down at one point to take 6-4 lead in the game. That loss in advantage though didn't seem to deter Sinmdhu’s charge as she fought back to make it 7-6the match in her favour.
But the match saw a decisive turn at 9-9 mark when the Hsu won six straight points to go 15-9 up in the game thereby taking a crucial lead in the contest. That continuous surge in points pegged the Indian back significantly and she eventually lost the game 21-15.
Heading into the decider Sindhu had all work to do and she began the game impressively, racing off to an early 3-0 lead but Hsu made a quick comeback into the game, winning the next 3 points to make it 3-3.
But the key moment in the game came at the 6-6 mark when, like in the second game, Sindhu once again gave away the advantage to her opponent and that slight opening of the door let Hsu to run away with the game and she eventually clinched the game the match in her favour 16-21 21-015 21-14 to enter into the second round.Published 03 Jun 2015, 10:37 IST
