There was further bad news coming India’s way at the Badminton Asia Championships as following the exit of Saina Nehwal, it was the turn of PV Sindhu to bow out of the competition after she was defeated by the top seed Li Xuerui of China in three games 21-11 19-21 8-21 in the quarter-finals on Friday.
Sindhu made a terrific start to the match, winning 6 points on the trot and taking the first game 21-11. However, the top seed made a sterling comeback in the next game, winning 4 points on the trot and eventually winning the game 21-19.
With both having won a game each, the third game and the deciding game promised to be an exciting one, however, that didn’t turn to be the case as the Li demolished her opponent 21-8 to close out the match, which lasted just under an hour.
