After Parupalli Kashyap suffered a three-game loss, it was the turn of PV Sindhu to follow suit as she too succumbed to 8th seed Wang Yihan of China 18-21 21-15 25-23 in match that lasted an hour and 12 minutes.
Game 1 saw the Indian dominate proceedings as she won 7 consecutive points as compared to her opponent's 3 and crucially converted both her game points to take the early lead.
The second Game saw the Chinese make a fine comeback into the match, as she 6 points on the trot as compared to Sindhu’s 3 to win the game 21-15 and take the match into a deciding third game.

The decider though proved to be an extremely tight contest, but it was Wang who managed to hold her nerve and clinched the game 25-23 to knock Sindhu out of the competition.
