Considered among the trickiest player in the game today, Tai was meant to be a tough opponent for Sindhu but instead, the Indian completely dominated proceedings, not giving any breathing space to her opponent, by applying unrelenting pressure, courtesy some exceptional play both near and at the deep end of the court.

After a commanding performance, Sindhu’s next oppoent is the reigning Olympic silver medalist Wang Yihan, who was present at the venue on Monday, every bit of the action between Sindhu and Tai.

The Chinese World No.2 is coming into the competition, after having coasted through the groups stages and received a bye in the Round of 16 and will look to make it 3 out of 3.

The head-to-head between the two reads 4-2 in Yihan’d favour, but the interesting things to note is that bothe her losses to Sindhu have come at the quarterfinal stage of the competition. She deferated Yihan in the quarterfinal of the 2013 World Championships and in the Denmark Open Superseries Premier last year.

The match will be played in Court 1, where Yihan has already played twice but Sindhu is yet to play. But if the Indian displays the same level of class as she did on Monday night against Tai, then look out for a massive result for India.
