What’s the story?

Tinsel town favourite Shraddha Kapoor, who will be playing Saina Nehwal’s character in the star shuttler’s much-awaited biopic, is reportedly facing some problems in grasping Saina’s style of badminton.

According to a report, Saina is also not pleased with the actress’ progress in training and is worried about the film getting delayed.

In case you didn’t know

Shraddha was roped in for the Olympics bronze medal winner’s biopic which will be directed by Amole Gupte and produced by Bhushan Kumar. It will cover the badminton star's epic journey, starting from her humble beginnings to her incredible highs and her devastating setbacks, from which she came back with aplomb.

However, even after weeks of training, Shraddha hasn’t got a hang of the sport, which has been a matter of concern for all the parties involved.

The heart of the matter

Shraddha denied the fact that the film is getting delayed because of her and was quoted as saying by TOI, “I have to train a lot for Saina's biopic. She is not just a badminton player, but also one of the best in her sport. I am really enjoying it. As soon as I am ready to play the role, we will start shooting.”

The experienced actress has been trying her best to get accustomed to Saina’s lifestyle. She was even seen sweating it out in the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy with the ace shuttler, so that she could perfectly portray the badminton star on screen.

However, reports suggest that Saina, who initially wanted Deepika Padukone to play her role, is not sure whether Shraddha will be able to do justice to her character.

What's next?

Shraddha will surely make an effort to eke out the little flaws in the process of copying Saina’s game and try to commence shooting as soon as possible.

Author’s take

Nowadays, Bollywood has become very demanding and when it comes to biopics, the scope of error is very less. Be it Farhan Akhtar in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag or Sushant Singh Rajput in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, the actors have really set the bar high while portraying sportspersons’ characters, and Shraddha wouldn’t want to look out of place just by hurrying the usual process.

It might take some time, but the thorough professional which Shraddha is, guarantees the fact that she is going to pull it off in style.
