Sameer Verma jumps to career best No. 14 in BWF rankings
By winning the Syed Modi International Badminton Championship 2018, Sameer Verma has jumped two places to reach his career best ranking of number 14 in the latest BWF rankings published today .
Despite losing in the first round, HS Prannoy jumped one place to be ranked 22nd in the world. A quarterfinal finish at the Syed Modi Championship has helped B Sai Praneeth to jump four spots to No. 24 .
Kidambi Srikanth continues to be the highest ranked men's singles player from India at Number 8. Kento Momota, meanwhile, continues to be the overall ruler in men's singles with 100,870 points.
In women's singles both PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal remained static at their previous week's ranking of No. 6 and No. 9 respectively. Tai Tzu Ying continues to be at the No. 1 spot with 100,267 points.
In men's doubles, the runners-up at the Syed Modi International Badminton Championship, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, have jumped one spot to No. 18. Kevin Sanjaya Sukamujlo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon of Indonesia are static at the No. 1 position .
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy's mixed doubles partner Ashwini Ponnappa too had a great run at the Syed Modi Championship. She made the finals in women's doubles and reached the semifinals in the mixed doubles category. The pair of Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy have climbed four spots to stand at No. 21 .
Japan's dominance in women's doubles continues as they have five pairs in the top 10 and three pairs in the top 5 of the women's doubles rankings.
In mixed doubles, the losing semi-finalists at the Syed Modi Championship, Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy have jumped six places to be ranked No. 21 . On the other hand, the pair of N Sikki Reddy and Pranav Jerry Chopra has gone down one place to No. 22 .
The pair of Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong from China is static at the No. 1 position in the mixed doubles rankings.
