In the most awaited clash of the day between emerging Indian smasher Tanvi lad and Beiwen Zhang of USA, the result didn’t come in India’s favour. Tanvi Lad was unable to perform as per the expectations of the Indian fans in the Final.

Before this Final encounter, Tanvi defeated the seventh-seeded Japanese smasher Yuka Kusunose in the semi-final to book her spot in the Final clash against Beiwen Zhang. While Beiwen Zhang made her place in the Finals by crushing the Swiss opponent Sabrina Jaquet by 21-19 and 21-11.

In the first game of the match, the US smasher Zhang performed exceptionally well against the World No. 67 Tanvi Lad. The World No. 160 Zhang dominated the complete game and didn’t even allow Tanvi to level the score in the whole game. Zhang comfortably sealed the first game of the match by 21-12 in no time.

The sixth-seeded Indian shuttler Tanvi was unable to change the story in the second game of the match also. After registering victory in the first game, spirited Zhang continued her aggression in the second game. At the beginning of the game, it was 1-1 on the board. But after this, it was only Zhang and Zhang all the way. Tanvi lost the game by the same score 12-21. The match lasted for only 26 minutes. Thus, Tanvi finished as a runner-up of the Women’s Singles category in the Swiss International 2013.

This badminton season appears to be a disappointing one for India as two days ago; star Indian players were also ruled out of the Yonex Denmark Open 2013. Today, India had 3 chances of bagging the titles but they failed to seal even a single title in the Swiss International 2013.
