Syed Modi International Badminton 2019, Kidambi Srikanth vs Son Wan-Ho, quarter-finals: Where to watch, TV schedule, live stream details and more
Things are finally looking up for former World No. 1 shuttler Kidambi Srikanth, who managed back-to-back wins at the ongoing Syed Modi International Badminton Championships. Srikanth put in an inspired display against compatriot Parupalli Kashyap, securing a hard-fought victory and booking a berth in the quarter-finals of the Super 300 tournament.
Srikanth has not had a great year, with his best performance coming in the India Open in March, where he finished as the runner-up. Plagued by injuries and poor form throughout the season, Srikanth has missed several key tournaments which has resulted in him dropping down the world rankings.
However, he seems to be slowly hitting his stride once again and looked in great touch against Kashyap in the previous round, edging his compatriot in a hard-fought three-setter.
Next up for Srikanth will be former World No. 1, Son Wan-ho, who outclassed Lakshya Sen in his second-round match at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium.
Wan-ho cruised to a 21-14, 21-17 victory to set up a clash with Srikanth in the quarter-finals. The Korean leads the head to head between the two players 6-4 and enters this contest as the favourite. However, Srikanth will fancy his chances of pulling off the upset as he looks to finish the year on a positive note.
