Video: Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei unveils first trailer for biopic

Malaysian badminton icon Lee Chong Wei released the trailer for his upcoming biopic, which is expected to hit cinemas in the first three months of 2018. He made the announcement via social media, where he shared the video for the trailer which certainly looks quite incredible.

The three-time Olympic silver medalist, who is a highly renowned figure back home in Malaysia and among fans across the world, recently finished runners-up at the Dubai World Superseries Finals behind Danish star Viktor Axelsen.

The movie is titled 'Lee Chong Wei' eponymously and will cover Lee's entire journey from starting off as a young player to becoming the world's highest-ranked star. Playing the lead role in the movie will be newcomer Tosh Chan while child actor Jake Eng will play the younger version of the player.

The trailer has some really absorbing scenes, highlighting how Lee rose from a humble background and started playing the sport against the wishes of his family. It also showcases the sacrifices he made on his journey to the top and how he battled against the odds to become an icon of the sport.

The former World No. 1, who has a whopping 67 career titles to his name, is considered to be one of the greatest players to have stepped on to a badminton court. He was ranked the best player on the circuit for a whopping 199 weeks, from August 2008 to June 2012.

Badminton fans across the world will be eagerly waiting for the film to release and if the trailer is anything to go by, the whole movie promises to be one to watch!
