Yonex French Open 2013: Disappointing start for India on day two
In the Women’s Doubles category, Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa crashed out of the ongoing Yonex French Open 2013. The Indian duo was up against the Indonesian pair of Gebby Ristiyani Imawan and Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah on Wednesday morning.
It was a tough fight between the opponents and the match went for three-games. The match was played for 50 minutes.
In the first game of the match, Jwala and Ashwini were way ahead of the Indonesian pair when the score was 17-13 in India’s favour. The game looked in India’s favour but the Indonesian pair reverted back and leveled the score 17-17. They continued their good flow and snatched the first game 21-18 from India.
Jwala and Ashwini gave a strong reply in the second game of the match. Displaying a dominating show on the court, the Indian duo didn’t allow the opponents to even level the score and comfortably sealed the second game by 21-13 in India’s favour.
The decisive third game looked balanced at the beginning of the game. At one stage, the score was leveled with 14-14. After this, the Indonesians showed a spirited attack and took away the game by 21-17 to register victory over the Indian pair.
The first game of the match proved to be a one-sided encounter between the two as Porntip found no difficulty in winning the game by 21-17. Arundhati wasn’t even able to level the score in the complete game.
Arundhati made a comeback in the second game of the match. At one stage, Porntip was successful in leveling the score by 6-6. But Arundhati haste to reach her 21 points and took away the game by 21-16 to take the clash to the third game.
In the third and decisive game of the match, Porntip returned back with confidence and her energetic efforts took her much ahead of Arundhati at the beginning of the game. This lead continued throughout the game and enabled Porntip to win the match by 21-17, 16-21 and 21-14. The match completed in 45 minutes.
