The 34 year old Manny Pacquiao emerged as winner in the much awaited fight that took place on 23rd November, 2013. Pacquiao was well prepared before the clash and quoted about his level of confidence and physical training he underwent.

He already had dedicated this fight to all the people of Philippines and their families who were affected by the storm- Haiyan. The typhoon resulted in around 7,000 deaths and a many more missing.

In the fight, Pacquiao defeat his opponent, the American Brandon Rios in his comeback match. By this victory, he managed to win the World Boxing Organization (WBO) International Welterweight championship held in Macau. The fight was scored as- 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110 by the three judges. The Filipino was swift in moves of body and head throughout the match to overcome his failure in his previous two performances.

It was a debut match for the American fighter and he fought well, but Pacquiao proved a better warrior and dominated during the fight.

From the very first round, the Filipino looked in a great touch and was able to land some jabs on the correct spots. The American also attached the body in the beginning of the fight.

Throughout the clash, Pacquiao’s left jabs looked exceptionally good and were right on the target. On the other hand, Rios was focusing on the body shots showing resistance.

By this win, he now holds a record of 38 knockouts. This is a great come back by the Pac-Man, as he was unsuccessful in his last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico way back in last December.

After the results were out, he said- “This is not about my comeback, this is about my people’s comeback from a natural disaster and a natural tragedy.”
