Indian Boxing Federation (IBF) informed that all boxers of the Core Group and other International Medalists have been informed that participation in the 57^th Sahara Senior Men’s National Boxing Championships is mandatory for being considered for selection to CWG Core Group Probables as well as to represent India at CWG 2010 and Asian Games 20

A doubt has arisen in a few boxers that as they have not been selected to represent their respective State / Board, how do they participate? The solution offered by IBF is that all International Medalists who do not get an opportunity to represent their State / Board will be permitted to participate as IBF entry for the 57^th Sahara Senior National Men’s Boxing Championships at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi from 10 – 16 July 2010. However, no points will be given to any Team for their victories, if any. They will only get a platform to participate.

This decision clarifies IBFs stand that boxers who do not participate in this Senior National Men’s Boxing Championship will not be considered for Commonwealth Games 2010 or Asian Games irrespective of their earlier National / International performances. This has also been communicated to Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Sports Authority of India so that there are no representations later on, if some boxer is dropped from the CWG 2010 squad or Asian Games squad on this pretext.
