Hyped as the ‘greatest fight of the century’, the Welterweight Championship fight, might come under scrutiny as Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum says that the Nevada Athletic Association, didn’t allow him to take a shoulder injection.

This would mean that the Filipino pugilist fought the match with essentially one hand. Arum told the Telegraph that Paquiao was cleared to take a painkilling injection, but was eventually refused. This is the same injury, which kept Kobe Bryant out for close to nine months.

Arum made his feelings clearly felt, he said, It's going to take a long time to potentially have a rematch because Manny has a shoulder injury and we are particularly disappointed that the Commission refused to allow what had been agreed. I think Manny is going to need an operation.”

Pacquiao also admitted in the post-match conference, that he was nursing a shoulder injury. Arum added, “he doctor who looked at it thought it was an old injury.”

Pacquiao went onto add, “By the third round I could feel the pain in my bad shoulder.”
