Shawn Porter wants a shot at Mayweather, but Floyd says fight Spence first

After a win against Broner, Porter not interested in fighting Errol Spence

With a unanimous decision, Shawn Porter won over his home state rival Adrien Broner this past Saturday in Las Vegas. Porter seemed to be in good form as he relentlessly attacked Broner on the back foot with a flurries of jabs and body shots. And now he wants to take things higher as he wants a September showdown fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Porter’s father and trainer was also very vocal about landing a fight with Mayweather, as he said :

“We did ‘The Battle For Ohio’ and now it’s time for ‘The Battle For Vegas’. We live on the same street, about a mile and a half from Mayweather. Don’t ignore us and avoid the elephant in the room. Let’s do it.”

But Mayweather ruled out the idea of facing Porter and said:

“No, that won’t happen, He can fight on my undercard in September. I already said that I would be relinquishing all of my titles( WBA (“super”), WBC, Lineal and The Ring welterweight titles), except the WBO title I won from Pacquiao but still haven’t received, So on the undercard of my September fight either Shawn Porter or Keith Thurman can fight Errol Spence Jr. for one of those titles.” Floyd also said that his next opponent would either be Andre Berto or Karim Mayfield.

“Showtime” replied to May by saying:

“I’m not looking to be on any Mayweather undercards, I was trying to get on the Mayweather-Pacquiao undercard but that didn’t happen so I’m only looking at Mayweather moving forward. I’m not trying to be on his undercard and watch him fight after me.”

Porter also said that he would be interested in fighting Pacquiao or Kell Brook, if not Mayweather.
