Vijender Singh, Akhil Kumar, Suranjoy Singh and the rest of the Indian Boxing Team are raring to enter the Ring at the ‘XXX Energy Drink 5th Commonwealth Boxing Championships’ scheduled to be held at the Talkatora Stadium , New Delhi from March 12 – 17, 2010.
The Commonwealth Boxing Championships which are being held for the first time in India will also be a Test Event for the Commonwealth Games 2010. Boxers from 17 Countries are participating in this prestigious event which is being organized by Indian Boxing Federation and promoted by Percept.
The Official date for arrival of International Teams is 10 March but a few Teams are coming early due to problems in flight connections and the necessity of acclimatization. The Opening Ceremony of the Championship will be at 2.00 pm on 12 March 2010 at the Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi. Entry will be by Tickets and Accreditation only. The Ticketing details will be publicized from 09 March 2010 by the Agency to whom it has been entrusted with. The Boxing bouts will be in two sessions daily ie. first session at 2.00 pm till 5.00 pm and the second session from 6.00 pm till 9.00 pm or till the bouts end for the day.
The Media personnel who are keen to cover the Event are requested to submit their application forms duly completed for accreditation and Police Verification to Indian Boxing Federation immediately and the sample forms are attached. It may kindly be noted that as there is no parking facility for vehicles near the Talkatora Stadium, the accredited media will be provided with a ‘pick and drop’ shuttle service from the Commonwealth Organising Committee Office Area opposite Jantar Mantar next to YMCA, to the Stadium on a scheduled time table starting from 12.15 pm on 12 March 2010 every 30 mins till the end of the bouts in the evening. Similarly the shuttle will continue from the Talkatora Stadium back to CWG OC Office location.

This is also to inform the Media personnel that Doordarshan is the Official host Broadcaster for the Championship. A special Media Zone has been created in the Talkatora Stadium where the Press & Media get to interview the boxers immediately after their bouts and their photos / video recordings of their bouts can be had. This area will be operated by Percept.
In addition to the above, there is a Press & Media Lounge as well as a Work Area with facilities for refreshments as well as carrying out their reports with a TV Screen placed which will be showing the proceedings of the bouts in progress live.
All visitors are requested to adhere to the security instructions which are in vogue for such events as is being done for the Hockey World Cup in Progress and especially the fact that items such as loose coinages will not be permitted inside the stadium due to security reasons.
