Vance Honeycutt is one of the top college center fielders who is being considered North Carolina’s top prospect in the 2024 draft class. Primarily a shortstop at Salisbury High School, Brody also played as a quarterback on the football team for three consecutive seasons and led the team to the 2AA state football championship in his final year. The 6-3, 205-pound athlete was named 2021 Rowan County High School Baseball Player of the Year before committing to North Carolina for his collegiate baseball journey.

Honeycutt had a breakout freshman campaign where he started all 64 games and concluded the year posting .296/.409/.672 with 25 home runs, 57 RBIs and 29 stolen bases. He became the first player in the program’s history to hit more than 20 home runs in a single season as a freshman. Honeycutt was named the most outstanding player in the ACC baseball championship. Last season as a sophomore, Honeycutt saw his numbers dip as he missed the final 10 games of the campaign with a lower back injury. He recorded a slash line of .257/.492/.418 with 12 home runs, 19 stolen bases and winning the ACC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. The Ankeny native is currently in his junior year with Tar Heels and could be a first-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
