The ESPY Awards took place on Wednesday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Held annually by ESPN, the event honours the standout athletes from the past season across different sports. This year in the women's basketball category, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark won the Best WNBA Player award, while USC's Juju Watkins won the Best College Athlete award.

KK Arnold and the other UConn stars didn't take home any awards at this year's ESPYs, despite the team's impressive run last season. The Huskies wrapped up last season with a dominant 38-3 record, capping it off with an NCAA championship win.

"KK comes out here and puts it out there.": UConn head coach Geno Auriemma on KK Arnold's energy

5-foot-9 guard KK Arnold just concluded her sophomore year with the UConn Huskies, and it was quite a successful one marked by a championship victory. Even though she wasn't the most Key part of the team, as players like Paige Buckers and Azzi Fudd took centre role, she was still crucial to the championship victory. She delivered nine points and three assists in the final four rounds and also in the final of the tournament.

Before the start of the season, coach Geno Auriemma, in a news conference, had some praise for Arnold, especially for the energy she brings to the team.

"She's been the biggest surprise, I think, simply because of her explosive energy," Geno Auriemma said. "She just is able to summon that up the entire practice on both sides of the floor. On offensive, she's just dynamic in the plays that she makes and on the defensive, and she's extremely disruptive… Right from the beginning, KK comes out here and puts it out there."

KK Arnold ended last season with an average of 5.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
