The 2025 college basketball recruiting class is filled with great players like AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer. Many of the top players are only expected to play one college season before they declare for the NBA draft and start their pro careers.
Scouts disagree on how to rank all of the top players this year. So, in an interesting experiment, the League Ready Instagram account posted a list of what ChatGPT thought would be the best starting five from the 2025 class on Thursday.
With players like Peterson and Boozer missing from the team, it was not the team most fans expected Chat GPT to produce.
"Boozer is literally the best player in this class and gets no love what’s so ever," one fan wrote.
"Boozer over Moreno as the big & Peterson over Burries," another fan commented.
"This y they be gettin 70s on my quizzes.. where is Darryn Peterson," a fan added.
Fans continued to react in the comments.
"Think I'd put Darryn and Boozer in there ngl just my opinion tho," one fan wrote.
"Guess ChatGPT has never heard of Darryn Peterson," another fan said.
"Had me lost without Darryn Peterson," a fan posted.

Malachi Moreno was the most surprising inclusion, as he is the No. 27-ranked player in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.
Media outlets are split on whether Darryn Peterson or AJ Dybantsa is the top player in the 2025 recruiting class
It was interesting to see that Chat GPT included AJ Dybantsa on their starting five over Darryn Peterson because media outlets are split on which player should be ranked higher. According to 247Sports, Peterson, who signed with the Kansas Jayhawks, is the top player in the class. Conversely, ESPN has BYU's Dybantsa as the top player.
Duke's Cameron Boozer and Tennessee's Nate Ament are ranked third and fourth by both outlets. Rounding out the top five is Arkansas' Darius Acuff Jr, according to 247Sports, and UNC's Caleb Wilson, according to ESPN.
Heading into the 2025-26 season, Peterson and Dybantsa are both expected to be one-and-done players. So, after this season, pundits think they will declare for the NBA draft. Since they are ranked closely heading into their freshman years, their performances will be hugely influential on where they end up getting drafted.
