Kiyan Anthony, a four-star shooting guard in the 2025 recruiting class, shared that he will visit USC, Rutgers and Ohio State in the coming weeks. Kiyan, son of 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, revealed that he will visit Rutgers in October and then Ohio State for his last visit.
Kiyan appeared on the "SloaneKnows: NEXT" podcast on Sept. 17. Sloane asked Anthony about his scheduled visits, and Anthony replied:
"Yeah, I have two visits scheduled next month. In September and then one in October. So I got USC and Rutgers next month and I'm trying to go to Ohio State as my last visit."
Sloane asked Anthony to provide some details about what an official visit looks like, and he provided a quick summary:
"The first day you might eat with the coaches, be with your family, chill. They take you around the campus, you might watch a football game or a basketball game during the daytime, and then you have, you watch their practice. So you watch the basketball team practice, and then you take pictures in a little uniform."
Anthony told Dushawn London of 247Sports that he will visit Rutgers on Oct. 4 and 5.
Anthony received offers from 21 schools. In July, he trimmed the list to six schools, including his father's alma mater: Syracuse. Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Rutgers and USC are other programs that interest Anthony.
Kiyan Anthony may land in the camp of his father's alma mater
Syracuse offered a scholarship to Kiyan Anthony almost two years ago. In his YouTube show, Anthony shared that Syracuse offered him the scholarship for his potential rather than for his father's legacy as he hinted at his next basketball destination.
Carmelo Anthony has also expressed a desire for his son to scale new heights in basketball. Upon his retirement in 2023, Melo said, per Associated Press:
“People ask what I believe my legacy is. It’s not my feats on the court that come to mind, all the awards or praise. Because my story has always been more than basketball. My legacy, my son ... I will forever continue through you. The time has come for you to carry this torch.”
Syracuse had never won a championship. In 2003, Melo led the program to its maiden championship victory. As rumors are ripe that Kiyan will choose Syracuse, he must be aiming for something similar.
