Johnson was one of the major producers for the Lady Tigers last season alongside Aneesah Morrow and Mikaylah Williams. The 5-foot-10 guard played and started in 34 games, averaging 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game, earning her the first-team All-SEC and third-team All-American honors.

The team finished the 2024-25 season with a 31-6 record and reached the Elite Eight, beating San Diego State, Florida State and NC State in the first three rounds. LSU had a chance to make the Final Four, but UCLA had other plans, beating them 72-65 despite Johnson's 28-point effort.

Flau’jae Johnson and Williams are expected to be the extension of coach Kim Mulkey on the court this season. They'll be providing the leadership to a retooled Lady Tigers lineup that is set to be the envy of other women's basketball teams, not just in the SEC but the whole nation.

LSU acquired former South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley, East Carolina forward Amiya Joyner and Notre Dame center/forward Kate Koval from the transfer portal. The Lady Tigers also secured the commitments of highly-rated freshmen Grace Knox, Divine Bourrage, ZaKiyah Johnson, Isabella Hines and Meghan Yarnevich.

Yarnevich is the latest addition to LSU's freshman class, which is ranked No. 1 in the nation this season. The four-star forward helped her teams reach multiple state semifinal stints, including the 2023 Maryland State Championship.
