Gilbert Arenas' ex Laura Govan shares adorable snap with her "old school crew" ft. Rocsi Diaz

Former Golden State Warriors star Gilbert Arenas has grabbed the headlines recently with his controversial comments about New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns. The outspoken Arenas is never far from the headlines due to his basketball takes and rocky relationship with his former fiancée Laura Govan.

On Monday, Govan posted a picture on her Instagram stories of herself and her longtime friends, including renowned TV personality Rocsi Diaz. She captioned the story:

"We go way back, my old school crew," Govan wrote.

Gilbert Arenas and Laura Govan met in 2001 when he played for the Golden State Warriors, right after he was drafted No. 31 after a college basketball career with the Arizona Wildcats. Govan worked in the public relations department of the Sacramento Kings.

The pair dated from 2002 and got engaged in 2008. They have four children together but broke up in 2014.

Laura Govan starred in the popular reality television show "Basketball Wives L.A" in 2011, but before she made her debut, Gilbert Arenas filed a lawsuit to stop her from appearing. Although she ultimately made her debut, the matter was front page news on various tabloids. During a 2020 interview with "Essence," Govan revealed why the former Golden State Warriors star tried to stop her from appearing on the show.

"A lot of people don’t know that Gilbert is really shy," Govan said. "He didn’t want things about our family to be out there. But at the end of the day, things about our family are already out there so I thought let’s take control of the things we can.

"It was also important for me to do the show because, one, I wanted to do something on my own. I’m always in his shadow. Had it been to get a job at Target, I would have taken it, but since I was offered this opportunity, I took it."

The relationship between Gilbert Arenas and Laura Govan has since thawed, as the pair is seen supporting their children who have embraced basketball.

Their eldest daughter, Izela Arenas, joined the Louisville Cardinals last year before transferring to the Kansas State Wildcats. Alijah Arenas is an ESPN five-star prospect who reclassified to the Class of 2025 and committed to the USC Trojans. Their daughter, Hamiley Arenas, plays for Sherman Oaks, California. The couple's youngest son, Aloni Arenas, also plays AAU basketball with the Compton Magic.
