LSU star Flau'jae Johnson is keen on doing some charity with the money she's making from NIL deals as the emerging star plans to give away $10,000 in donation.
In the Thanksgiving episode of her podcast, "Best of Both Worlds," Johnson was joined by a special guest, her stepfather Ameen Brooks. They discussed the holiday season and the importance of giving back to the community.
"I'm grateful to just be able to travel and experience life and give back, especially around the holidays," Flau'jae said (1:27). "Being able to travel with your family and also pour back into the communities, I think it's super important because the holidays are when you feel it the most.
"I told my mama about it, but I guess I announced it on my podcast. This holiday season, I want to give away $10,000 to four single moms — $2,500 a piece," she added. "I just want to bless some single moms out there because I know how hard it was for my mom to try to provide for me and my brothers and make every holiday special for us."
Flau'jae Johnson revealed that the four women she wants to donate to include two from her hometown of Savannah, Georgia, and two from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It's in Baton Rouge that she attends college and plays for the Lady Tigers. She also requested her fans to help her find deserving recipients.
Kia Brooks embraces Flau'jae Johnson's dedication to community and charity
Flau'jae Johnson's mom, Kia Brooks, was thrilled to see her daughter's generosity and heartfelt efforts to help those in need during the Thanksgiving season.
On Tuesday, Johnson organized a food donation for the less fortunate at the Walmart Supercenter on Abercorn Street in Savannah. While she could not be there in person to distribute the meals, her mother and politician Carl Gilliard ensured the event went smoothly.
Brooks wrote a lengthy post on Instagram gushing about her daughter's community service.
"Not a day goes by that @flaujae doesn’t think of others that possibly might be in need during these times. So while she’s in the Bahamas focusing on bringing home these 'W’s with her team and our family as support, she still made sure to find a way to donate her 500 turkeys to the less fortunate," Kia captioned.
Flau'jae Johnson, with a NIL valuation of $1.5 million, was unable to attend the food distribution event because she was in the Bahamas with the LSU basketball team. The No. 7 Tigers defeated Washington and No. 20 NC State to win the Pink Flamingo Championship.
