BYU's Jaxson Robinson announced his decision to enter the transfer portal while also declaring for the draft on Saturday. The senior guard averaged 14.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 42.6%.

He explained the reasons for his transfer to ESPN.

"The reason I am entering the transfer portal is because of the new coaching change at BYU," Robinson said. "I want to get to know Coach [Kevin] Young, but at the same time, I need to weigh all of my options. However, my primary focus is still achieving my longtime dream of playing in the NBA."

After poor performances in his freshman and sophomore seasons at Texas A&M and Arkansas, Robinson grew his game the most in the last two seasons under coach Mark Pope. With him going to Kentucky, the changes in the team have caused most players on the Cougars' roster to transfer.

While he could join coach Pope at Lexington, Jaxson Robinson is keeping his options open.

"Although Coach Pope and I have a great relationship and had an amazing season this past year, it is important that I still explore what the best fit for me is. My recruitment is still 100% open."

Top five landing spots for Jaxson Robinson

#1 Arkansas Razorbacks

While his sophomore season at Fayetteville may have been a disappointment, things have changed immensely with the team now. Under the new coach, John Calipari, Robinson has a real shot at growing his game.

Coach Calipari is famous for molding the best NBA talent and the guard could easily increase his draft stock for the 2025 NBA draft if he plays for the Razorbacks.

#2 Kentucky Wildcats

Jaxson Robinson works the best with Pope and could help boost the roster. Some former BYU players are also moving to Kentucky.

This could help jumpstart Mark Pope's era with the Wildcats. Knowing that the coach takes an offense-led approach to the game, the guard could continue to sharpen his skills.

#3 Oklahoma Sooners

Six players from the team have entered the transfer portal and coach Porter Moser and his staff are actively looking into the transfer portal for replacements. Joining the Sooners will be a return to home for Ada, Oklahoma-born Robinson.

Coach Moser has signed just one player so far and adding Jaxson to the roster will help take care of the offense.

#4 Houston Cougars

Point guard Jamal Shead has declared for the draft and the Cougars are on the lookout for a solid guard. And Jaxson could be that guy.

While he may not have experience as a starter, he started in six games last season, so this opportunity would still be a great learning experience for him.

#5 Alabama Crimson Tide

Coach Nate Oats has lost most of his team, especially guards. Jaxson Robinson brings experience and a great skillset to the team. He also has prior NCAA Tournament appearance experience and would stay consistent and not choke under pressure.

BYU plays in the competitive Big-12 conference and having led the team in scoring against tough teams, Robinson will be able to deliver quickly.
