On Saturday, Jaxson Robinson declared for the 2024 NBA draft while maintaining his college eligibility. After two years with the BYU Cougars, Robinson also plans on entering the transfer portal.

He explained his decision to ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

"The reason I am entering the transfer portal is because of the new coaching change at BYU," Robinson said. "I want to get to know Coach [Kevin] Young, but at the same time, I need to weigh all of my options. However, my primary focus is still achieving my longtime dream of playing in the NBA."

Jaxson Robinson had immense growth as a player under former coach Mark Pope. If he changes his mind about the NBA, joining his coach in Kentucky could be a possibility. However, the guard said:

"Although Coach Pope and I have a great relationship and had an amazing season this past year, it is important that I still explore what the best fit for me is. My recruitment is still 100% open."

In his senior year at BYU, Robinson averaged 14.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 42.6%. He was named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and played a crucial role in BYU's March Madness run last season.

As he prepares for the NBA Combine on May 12–19, here are a few options for Jaxson Robinson.

Top five NBA landing spots for Jaxson Robinson

#1 Los Angeles Lakers

The playoffs have been horrible for the Lakers, who are largely being carried by veterans LeBron James and Anthony Davis. D'Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves are unreliable scorers and Taurean Prince is the only scoring player coming off the bench.

In this scenario, the Lakers need to make some desperate moves to secure their future. Jaxson Robinson can easily strengthen the second rotation with his scoring skills and ensure that there is a division of labor in the offense.

#2 Golden State Warriors

The Warriors are a dynasty slowly crumbling away. Klay Thompson is looking at free agency this summer and the super team era is coming to an end. The offense has largely been taken care of by Stephen Curry, with flashes of great performance by younger players like Moses Moodey and Jonathan Kuminga.

Robinson would be an asset to the Golden State by reducing the load and ensuring that the games are not lost in the final quarter.

#3 Philadelphia 76ers

While Tyrese Maxey is the reliable point guard for the Sixers, he could use some help. The bench with DJ Wilson, Paul Reed, and Terquavion Smith is not looking strong for Philly and they need important pieces that can play the minutes and contribute.

Injuries have plagued the team and they need a healthy young roster that can be present every night.

#4 Milwaukee Bucks

The starting five in the Bucks have largely carried the team, especially Damian Lillard. Players like Jae Crowder, AJ Green and others have not been up to par, and the front office needs to make some serious rethinking before continuing with the current roster.

Jaxson Robinson, while taking care of the offense, can also use his height to work on his defense.

#5 San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs need more players who can work around big man Victor Wembanyama. Despite coming off the bench, Jaxon Robinson led the Cougars in scoring, and he would be an asset to Coach Gregg's team.

It is evident what a generational talent Wemby is. All he needs are players who are willing to make the same efforts as his and help bring more wins.
