In an Overtime special about Kiyan Anthony released in January, the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony said that there were a lot of opportunities that came with being friends with the LeBron James family.

"I feel like since he's (Carmelo) in the NBA, and my mom being an actress, it opens more doors for all of us," Kiyan explained. "Especially, like, me being friends with, like, Bronny and Bryce (James), it's just a lot of opportunities."

Anthony, whose NIL value sits at $1.1 million (according to On3), expressed his gratitude for his parents in the movie, created from Season 1 of his reality show "The Evolution," but he knows that it's time for him to step out of their shadows.

"All the work that he's put in, I've watched it for all the years, but now it's time for me to reciprocate that same energy," Anthony said.

Kiyan Anthony commits to Syracuse University

Kiyan Anthony committed to his father's alma mater, Syracuse, earlier this month, opting for the Orange over other programs that included USC, Auburn and Florida State.

In an emotional video taken at his commitment party, Carmelo Anthony expressed his pride in his son and how great the opportunity is to put New York back on the map.

"As a father, this is a special moment," Carmelo said. "You got a chance to put the school, and the community and New York back to where it's supposed to be."

Kiyan also spoke at the party.

"It was hard to make a decision," he said. "I had a lot of offers, you know, so it was just hard to cut down. I wanna say thank you to all the coaches that recruited me, and ultimately only one can stay, so, with all of that being said ... Syracuse University, it's lit."

For now, Kiyan Anthony will be focused on finishing his time at Long Island Lutheran High School strong, before focusing his attention on his new home at Syracuse in 2025.
