The Sacramento State Hornets have resumed training for the upcoming season, led by their new coach, Mike Bibby, and general manager, Shaquille O'Neal. The three-time NBA champion will hope to utilise all his experience in helping the Hornets reach greater heights.
Shaquille's move to Sacramento State has also seen the Hornets recruit his son, Shaqir O'Neal. The Los Angeles, California native is keen to make a mark in the junior year of his collegiate career for the Hornets.
Alan Cheeseman uploaded training images of the Sacramento State Hornets on Tuesday. The players were seen sweating it out under the close supervision of Bibby.
Fresh off an underwhelming 7-25 campaign, the Hornets are eager to put up a better show in the upcoming season under Bibby and Shaq. There have been massive roster changes with some bright talent joining Sacramento State. It will also be a big challenge for Shaq, who would like to excel in his new role.
It has been a busy offseason for Sacramento State in terms of recruitment
After last season, the Hornets decided to make drastic changes, and therefore, Bibby was hired, and the majority of the roster entered the transfer portal. So Sacramento State has gone through a complete overhaul.
Bibby's first recruit was former Florida A&M forward Shaqir. The junior forward started 14 of the 26 games he played, averaging 6.7 points while shooting 41% from beyond the arc.

They have also roped in freshman guard Taj Glover, who redshirted his first season at South Florida. Forwards Brandon Gardner and Jeremiah Cherry have also joined the program.
While Cherry has joined from UNLV, Gardner was redshirted at Arizona State and played only a single game for USC in his freshman season.
Arizona native Zach Anderson was also recruited from the transfer portal. The guard featured for Scottsdale Community College. He averaged 11.6 points with 39% shooting from beyond the arc as he started all of the 27 games.
Lastly, guards like Mikey Williams, Jaydean Teat and Isaiah Bronson have also made the move to Sacramento State. Teat is a Sacramento native and was redshirted in his sophomore season. He came off the bench for Utah in 18 games and averaged 1.3 ppg.
Whereas Williams, a redshirted freshman guard, played 18 games for the University of Central Florida and averaged 5.1 ppg before entering the portal.
Similarly, Bronson, another redshirted freshman, who did not compete for Cal Poly Pomona last season, has joined the Hornets. He averaged 20 ppg for his high school team, Phoenix Prep.
