Tom Izzo, Mark Pope, and other notable men's basketball coaches have been at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina, evaluating the future of their respective programs as some of the best recruits showcase at the NBPA Top 100 Camp.
SLAM HS highlighted a specific instance where the Michigan State and Kentucky coaches watched Latrell Allmond, Taylen Kinney and Tajh Ariza ball out. Allmond and Ariza combined for 37 points in one contest, while Kinney posted 19.
"Tajh Ariza and Latrell Allmond combined for 37 points in a win this morning 🍿 Taylen Kinney led his squad with 19 points. @top100camp @thenbpa," the post read.
Neither Mark Pope nor Tom Izzo has garnered a commitment outside of the 2025 recruiting class as of now. As per 247Sports, only 18 players have declared a commitment across 14 schools for the next year. Josiah Harrington is the only 2027 high school graduate to have signed in the 2027 class (Iowa State).
The NBPA Top 100 Camp is one of the most prestigious events for high school players, having featured over 300 future NBA players. The 2025 rendition features a total of 111 recruits - one from the 2028 class, 26 from 2027 and 84 prospects from the next year.
Apart from their basketball skills, the camp also emphasizes development potential, overall character and education as key factors in a player.
Mark Pope has one of the best recruiting classes this year
Last year, Mark Pope resorted to the transfer portal to build his squad at Kentucky. It was one of the most versatile and experienced transfer classes in the nation. This season, Pope is making waves with one of the most talented groups of high school players.
Kentucky has added Jasper Johnson (No. 24), Malachi Moreno (No. 27), Braydon Hawthorne (No. 33) and Croatian power forward Andrija Jelavic. The Wildcats also brought in six transfers from Alabama, Maryland, Pittsburgh and other notable programs.
With that, 247Sports ranks Mark Pope's 2025 recruiting class as the fourth best in the nation, only behind Duke, Houston and BYU. ESPN ranks UK in the sixth spot.
