The No. 2 UConn Huskies women's basketball team took on the No. 18 Ole Miss Rebels in the Baha Mar Women's Championship Game on Wednesday night. The Huskies enter the matchup with a 5-0 record, coming off a 71-52 win over Oregon State on Monday night.
UConn was led by a game-high 23 points from star point guard Paige Bueckers, who also grabbed three rebounds and assisted on six baskets.
The Rebels are 4-1 through their first five games of the season, coming off a dominant 92-55 win over Boston College. Ole Miss was led by a season-high 17 points from Kennedy Todd-Williams.
The Huskies got out to a fast start, taking a 19-8 lead into the second quarter. UConn carried that momentum into the second period, taking a lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
Ole Miss exploded for 28 points in the third quarter, cutting UConn’s lead to 52-46 entering the fourth quarter. UConn fended off the Rebels, outscoring Ole Miss 21-14 in the final period. The Huskies topped the Rebels 73-60 behind 29 points from Paige Bueckers, advancing to 6-0 on the season.
