Alabama A&M Bulldogs guard Shelomi Sanders continues to work on her game in the offseason to prepare for the 2025-26 campaign. On Saturday, Deion Sanders' daughter and @detail_training on Instagram collaborated on a post that showed Shelomi working a new set of drills in an intense preseason practice session.
The Boulder, Colorado, native is coming off of a junior stint of college hoops with the Bulldogs after spending her freshman year with the Jackson State Lady Tigers and sophomore season with the Colorado Buffaloes.
Shelomi and the Bulldogs were eliminated in the first round of the 2025 Women's NIT by the Chattanooga Mocs, 53-49.
"Stacking days 🤝🏾 @shelomisanders," the post was captioned.
In the reel, Shelomi Sanders is seen working on her elbow jumpers off the catch and off the dribble as she works on her game speed and reflexes. This was another chapter in her workouts with Coach Freeman of Detail Training, who has been her longtime skills trainer already.
Shelomi is fresh off of her 2024-25 campaign where she averaged 1.2 points and 0.4 rebounds in 3.9 minutes in 26 games at Alabama A&M.
Shelomi Sanders shares how she deals with type 1 diabetes while being a basketball player
In an interview with Beyond Type 1 on March 27, Shelomi Sanders discussed the origins of her type 1 diabetes diagnosis and how she deals with it, one she was diagnosed with when she was 13.
The 21-year-old shared a glimpse of how she deals with the sickness while being a college basketball player going through rigorous workouts.
"I never really questioned basketball. I always knew I’d be fine in that matter. It was just controlling diabetes and making sure that I was healthy. When I work out, my blood sugar tends to go high. I heard most people’s blood sugar goes low, so that’s different. But where I’m at, all the trainers make sure I have everything I need," Shelomi said.
"I have my pump and everything on the side. I’m still learning to this day about my body and how to control it. I feel like it never stops, figuring out new things with your body," she continued.
Shelomi Sanders will be entering her senior campaign of collegiate hoops with the Alabama A&M Bulldogs after helping coach Dawn Thornton's program finish the 2024-25 campaign with an overall 21-11 record and 14-4 in SWAC play.
