Prolific Prep star Darryn Peterson is preparing for his rookie stint in college basketball. On Friday, @kuhoops on Instagram posted a 25-second reel in which Peterson threw down three straight dunks during a team scrimmage, showcasing his raw explosiveness.
In November 2024, Peterson committed and officially signed to play for the Kansas Jayhawks in the 2025-26 season under the tutelage of coach Bill Self. He will help the Jayhawks return to their national championship glory, which they last won in 2022.
College basketball fans and spectators then acknowledged Peterson's potential.
"Darryn Peterson will be the best player for Kansas," one fan asserted.

"Thank you Lord for DP," another fan shared with an emoji.

"Number one player in the country for a reason," another user claimed.

"Fam putting that work," a user said with a fire emoji.

Other users shared their excitement towards the chemistry Peterson can form with the fellow Jayhawks players.
"Elmarko (Jackson) and Darryn, oh man," one fan wrote.

"DP and Flory (Bidunga)...Everyone else...Don't f*ck things up!!!!!," another fan commented.

"Kansas we back!," a fan posted.

Bill Self believes getting Darryn Peterson was one of the best Kansas Jayhawks recruiting moves ever
When Darryn Peterson signed with the Kansas Jayhawks in November last year, coach Bill Self put out a statement through the team's official website, speaking about what a milestone it was for the program to successfully recruit him.
"This is one of the best recruiting moments that Kansas basketball has had in decades," Self was quoted saying. "Darryn is an all-around guard that scores at all levels and is also a terrific facilitator and defender. He has been well drilled and has a toughness about him being raised in a family where his brother is a successful football player at Wisconsin.
"Darryn was as important as any recruit we have recruited in recent memory. Coach (Kurtis) Townsend did a great job as the lead recruiter. Darryn can be a catalyst to also draw other players to our program," he concluded.
Darryn Peterson will be joining coach Self's Kansas squad that finished the 2024-25 campaign with an overall record of 21-13, 11-9 during Big 12 conference play, and was eliminated in the first round of the 2025 NCAA tournament.
