Bill Belichick is gearing up for his first season as a college football head coach. The six-time Super Bowl-winning coach will lead the UNC Tar Heels in the 2025 season in the stacked NCAA.
Belichick had a $10 million buyout clause if his UNC contract was terminated before June 1, 2025. The clause dropped to just $1 million after June 1. It is now significantly easier to snag the iconic HC out of his current deal.
The veteran tactician is one of the most accomplished coaches in American sports, but he has no experience at the collegiate level. NCAA analyst Josh Pete made a bold prediction about the Tar Heels' playoff chances.

Speaking on the June 12 episode of Josh Pate's College Football Show, he answered a query from a listener on Belichick succeeding in his new job:
"No, I don't think he is. I don't think he is at all."
Pate continued:
"I do not care how much they pay him. I am going based on what North Carolina, as a program, has been capable of."
The UNC Tar Heels and Belichick agreed to a five-year, $50 million deal. He replaced program legend Mack Brown. He enters the building with six Super Bowl rings as a head coach, two as an assistant coach and three AP NFL Coach of the Year Awards.
Bill Belichick aims to join exclusive company in 2025
Bill Belichick is looking to become just the fourth head coach in history to win both a national championship and a Super Bowl ring. The other members of the ultra-exclusive club are Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll.
Barry Switzer led the Oklahoma Sooners to three national championships in 1974, 1975 and 1985. He later took over the head coach gig at the Dallas Cowboys and led them to Super Bowl XXX win.
Jimmy Johnson led the Miami Hurricanes to a national championship in 1987. After a stellar stint with the Hurricanes, Johnson joined the Dallas Cowboys. He led them to consecutive Super Bowl rings in SB XXVII and XXVIII.
Pete Carroll is the latest member of the club as he guided the USC Trojans to two national championships. However, one of these chips has since been vacated.
Following his time at USC, Carroll took over the Seattle Seahawks HC gig and led the franchise to a Super Bowl XLVIII win over a stacked Denver Broncos side.
Bill Belichick will have his work cut out to enter such an exclusive club. However, if there's any HC to never count out then it's the future Pro Football Hall of Famer.
