The future of Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders has become a major talking point in the last few days. This comes after Sanders turned around the struggling Colorado program, securing bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016 while also making strides to book a spot in the Big 12 Championship game.

Sanders' two sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, will be on the NFL draft board next year and they are likely playing their last season in Boulder. This has led many to believe that even Sanders would follow them to take a coaching job in the NFL.

The current favorite for this is the Dallas Cowboys. However, former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton believes another team will be "perfect" for Deion Sanders.

" What is a good look, I do believe for Prime is Florida State University," said Newton on Friday's edition of First Take.
"Not only would you have more time to build a foundation, you have more resources than, respectfully, Colorado," Newton added. "I don't think he would have the same time frame in Dallas."

This is a surprise choice from Newton and goes completely against the consensus of many people. However, there is some sense to this.

Sanders went to Florida State and established himself as a strong cornerback. A return to his former college would allow him to continue to develop young talent and amaze in the transfer portal, something that he may not be able to do in the NFL.

A potential move to the Seminoles is also possible. Last season, Florida State was one of the best teams in college football, winning the ACC with an undefeated record. However, they were controversially denied a spot in the then four-team college football playoff field.

Problems with Florida State potentially hiring Deion Sanders

This season, everything has gone wrong for Florida State. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei struggled in his return to the ACC, and this team is a shell of its former self.

The Seminoles only have one win this season, and current coach Mike Norvell's future with the program is uncertain. This will open the door for Sanders, who has a small but good track record in turning around struggling teams.

But there are two big unknowns at the moment.

In January, Norvell signed an eight-year extension with the Seminoles. Getting himself out of a contract this long will require a lot of money, and Florida State may not want to make this big decision based on just one poor season.

Secondly, if Norvell does leave and they do hire Sanders, Deion will have to coach a team that does not have members of his family in it. Fans have not seen Sanders do this before, and it could be something he struggles to do.
