The Dallas Cowboys, popularly known as ‘America’s Team’, might be losing steam in the NFC East with the sudden emergence of the Washington Commanders. After finishing third in the division and missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2020 season, Dallas and head coach Mike McCarthy went their separate ways after the 2024 season concluded.

The Cowboys didn’t have to go out looking for McCarthy’s successor, as they chose an in-house candidate in Brian Schottenheimer to become the franchise's 10th head coach. The upcoming 2025 season will be a transition year in Dallas with Dak Prescott serving as the longest active member of the Cowboys due to Zack Martin retiring in the offseason and DeMarcus Lawrence taking his talents to Seattle.

What is the Dallas Cowboys' depth chart for 2025-26?

The Cowboys' first major move in the offseason was inking Osa Odighizuwa to a 4-year extension. After letting Rico Dowdle walk away in free agency, Dallas hopes their two new free agent signings, Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, can match Dowdle’s production from last year. Cowboys made one of the biggest offseason splashes after the draft season was over by trading for George Pickens in May 2025. Pickens, alongside CeeDee Lamb, gives the 5-time Super Bowl champions two 1,000-yard receivers on the outside.

While the Cowboys had a relatively quiet free agency, they addressed some of their needs within the first two rounds of the 2025 NFL draft. They first found a replacement for Zack Martin in 1st round, when they took Tyler Booker out of Alabama. They used their second-round pick on Boston College pass rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, who could potentially fill in for DeMarcus Lawrence down the road.
