Minnesota Vikings Depth Chart

The Minnesota Vikings, who took the entire league by surprise in 2024, will not have the same luxury of being slept on by opponents anymore in the upcoming season. While the humiliating defeat in the wildcard round left a sour taste in the mouths of all Vikings fans, players and coaches alike, it also paved the way for the JJ McCarthy era to finally begin.

While Sam Darnold had a career year last season (finishing in the top 5 in passing yards in the entire league), his postseason performance left much to be desired (his o-line was also at fault, allowing 9 sacks in the wildcard game). On paper, Minnesota is one of the favorites to come out on top in the NFC North alongside the Detroit Lions.

What is the Minnesota Vikings' depth chart for 2025-26?

The Vikings' season output heavily depends on how Kevin O’Connell develops JJ McCarthy in the wake of the exit of Sam Darnold from the Twin Cities. Kevin O’Connell will once again be tasked with weaving his magic with JJ, like he did with Sam Darnold, who was considered a bust until last season. After giving up 9 sacks in the 2024 wildcard game, Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah entered the offseason with a single approach of retooling the interior offensive line. Minnesota spent more than $100 million on OG Will Fries and center Ryan Kelly in free agency before taking guard Donovan Jackson out of Ohio State in the draft with their only pick (24th) in the top 100.

Kwesi also saw to it that defensive coordinator Brian Flores got help on his side of the ball. The Vikings added big bodies in the interior by bringing in defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave. Another notable pickup made by the Vikes was that of former 1st round pick, cornerback Jeff Okudah.
