About Minnesota Vikings Schedule 2024-25

Minnesota Vikings are ushering in a new era with JJ McCarthy at the helm. When the Vikings decided to move on from Kirk Cousins and longtime defensive staple Danielle Hunter, it was a clear sign that they were going into retool mode. Teams with young superstar wide receivers like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison don’t need to go into full rebuild mode.

The Vikings also added Sam Darnold in free agency to give some stability to the quarterback room. It will be interesting to see what plan Kevin O’Connell has for McCarthy this season. Unlike their rival Bears, Vikings have not named the starting quarterback as of May. Many experts believe that Sam Darnold should start the season until JJ is ready to take the reins. Of the team.

When the Minnesota Vikings schedule release came out in mid-May, fans were dismayed, as Vikings only got two primetime games in the upcoming season.

Minnesota Vikings Key Games 2024-25

According to the Minnesota Vikings schedule, the team would be playing nine home games and eight away games. As per the NFL’s rotation policy, Vikings would be facing teams from AFC South and NFC West in the upcoming season. The main priority for the Vikings this season will be to put their rookie QB in a favorable situation and develop him along the way.

Week 9 - November 3, 2024 - Minnesota Vikings vs. Indianapolis Colts

This is the first game in the Minnesota Vikings schedule where Vikings fans can see the debut of JJ McCarthy in 2024, if he doesn’t start from the get go. This game has a 2nd year quarterback, Anthony Richardson, starting for the Colts after having his season shortened due to an injury in 2023.

Colts defense was below average last season which would help boost the confidence of rookie signal caller were he to start against them. This would also mean JJ McCarthy would start his first game among Vikings faithful.

Week 11 - November 17, 2024 - Minnesota Vikings @ Tennessee Titans

The Vikings would be facing their third opponent from AFC South in three consecutive weeks. This game also features a second-year quarterback along with a team who is in the same phase as the Minnesota Vikings. The Titans are in a retool mode and have good pieces in the receiving core to do damage to the opposing teams. It would be a fun matchup between two young quarterbacks if Vikings were to start JJ.

Week 12 - November 24, 2024 - Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears

This is the matchup which Vikings and Bears fans would be eager to see as two quarterbacks taken in top 10 from 2024 NFL draft will go up against each other for the first time. Packers have got their franchise QB in Jordan Love while Lions just signed Jared Goff to an extension this offseason. Only two teams remaining in NFC north without a long term answer at QB are Bears and Vikings. Fans of both these teams are hopeful that this is only the beginning of what could become a budding rivalry in the future between JJ McCarthy and Caleb Williams.

Week 13 - December 1, 2024 - Minnesota Vikings vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals were one of the worst teams in the whole league last year. Even though their quarterback, Kyler Murray, did not play half of the season last year, the Cardinals were no better with him at the helm too. This is a very winnable game for the Vikings but it remains to be seen what the Vikings offense looks like with Sam Darnold or JJ McCarthy under center.

Week 17 - December 29, 2024 - Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers

One of the most bitter rivalries in all of the NFL has a real chance to get even more bitter if JJ McCarthy starts on the road vs. Jordan Love. Packers have got their quarterback for next decade plus and Vikings sure hope they got one in JJ. If Vikings would be in contention for the playoffs along with Packers, this game would have a very high stake. Even if the Vikings are not in contention for a wildcard spot, they would surely hope to damage the Packers chance to get into the playoffs.
