The Indianapolis Colts were originally established as the Baltimore Colts in Maryland in 1953. The Colts were based out of Baltimore till 1983 after which they relocated to Indianapolis amidst major controversies. Indianapolis Colts have been a successful NFL franchise and have had formidable squads over the years. The Indianapolis Colts compete in the AFC South division of the American Football Conference. Quarterback Peyton Manning led the Colts to massive success after joining in 1998 and helped them win their first Championship in 36 years (since shifting from Baltimore). The Indianapolis Colts have enjoyed success when they were the Baltimore Colts and even after relocating to Indianapolis. While based out of Baltimore, the Colts won 3 NFL Championships (pre the 1970 merger), and also won 7 Conference Championships. The Colts also won a Super Bowl (1970) while being based out of Baltimore.
After relocating to Indianapolis, the Colts have won another Super Bowl along with appearing in the playoffs 16 times. The Colts have also won the Divisional Championship a total of 16 times.

The Colts originated in Baltimore where horse racing was a great sport and horses are greatly revered in the area. The original Baltimore Colts logo was a horse with a football and a helmet. The current Indianapolis Colts logo of a horseshoe was introduced in 1979. It symbolizes good luck, professionalism and stability. The horseshoe is also an ode to the origin city of the Colts.
The Indianapolis Colts home stadium is officially called the Lucas Oil Stadium. It replaced the RCA Dome Stadium as the Colts’ home field in 2008. The Lucas Oil Stadium is one of the most expensive stadiums in the NFL. The magnificent stadium features a retractable roof and a retractable window on one side too.

Indianapolis Colts’ main reason for shifting from Baltimore was that the stadium where they played was inadequate to host them. The Memorial Stadium in Baltimore was home to both the Colts and also the Baltimore Orioles of the MLB. Issues such as team revenue from the stadium also factored into the move of the Colts from Baltimore to Indianapolis.
The Indianapolis Colts major jersey colors are royal blue and white. The jersey also features a gray and black outline. The Colts colors have been the same ever since they were originally established as the Baltimore Colts.
