The New York Giants, the NFL's flagship franchise, has been tethered to irrelevance since their last run to the Super Bowl in 2012. Since lifting their fourth Lombardi Trophy, New York has won only one postseason game as of May 2025. Newly appointed head coach Brian Daboll instilled a ray of hope into the fanbase in the 2022-23 season when he led the team to its first postseason victory since the 2012 run.
Unfortunately, Daboll’s magic soon fizzled out as the team went only downhill from there, posting 6 and 3 wins in the next two seasons, respectively. Daboll, who will be entering his 4th season in 2025 as the HC of Big Blue, is viewed as one of the head coaches to be on a hot seat.
What is the New York Giants' depth chart for 2025-26?
As of May 2025, the Giants' quarterback room has only one familiar face from last season, and that’s Tommy DeVito. Bringing in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston during free agency did not stop New York from taking Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. However, it remains to be seen whether Dart will get any live reps into the regular season or if Brian Daboll will ride with both veterans, Wilson and Jamies, basically redshirting Dart’s rookie campaign. General Manager Joe Schoen brought in veteran wide receivers Zach Pascal and Lil’Jordan Humphrey to strengthen the receiving core, consisting of Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton. The starting O-line has remained the same from the 2024-25 season. James Hudson III and Stone Forsythe were added in FA to provide depth options at the upfront. It will be up to these big men to provide the running lanes for last year’s surprising breakout rookie, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and this year’s 4th round pick, Cam Skattebo.
Giants, who ranked 9th in the league in sacks during the 2024 season (via ESPN), only got better at the line of scrimmage with the additions of Abdul Carter and Darius Alexander. Those two will provide great support to Dexter Lawrence II, Brian Burns, and Kavyon Thibodeaux on the defensive line. Giants' biggest area of concern going into 2025 free agency was a need for a ballhawk cornerback and safety, as they ranked second last in interceptions (5) last year, per ESPN. Schoen signed both safety Jevon Holland and cornerback Paulson Adebo to 3-year deals each during free agency.
