Recently, many analysts have mused about Shedeur Sanders and his father, Colorado coach Deion Sanders, both moving forward with the Dallas Cowboys. However, Sanders would have to be hired first, months before the NFL draft in April. And Dallas would have to land in the right spot to take his son at that point. Now, the Giants are the new Cowboys.
On Tuesday, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen attended a Colorado football practice and appeared to have a pleasant conversation with Coach Prime.
Unsurprisingly, the college football world has taken this as a hint that Shedeur Sanders might be headed for New York. Although the quarterback isn’t in the video, the general sentiment is that he's the reason behind the visit.
Giants fans and Buffaloes fans alike are thrilled at the thought of Sanders joining the New York Giants. And with the Giants having a chaotic season as they nurse a 2-9 record, new talent might just be what they need to rise out of their slumber.
Shedeur is in the top five in college football in yards, touchdowns and completion percentage. His potential addition to the Giants would be good news. However, this is just speculation. Not long ago it seemed certain that the Cowboys would draft Shedeur. Perhaps Giants fans are simply seeing what they would like to see. Either way, the future will tell.
“I now place my hope in Oklahoma State” Jason Whitlock slams Colorado and Deion Sanders
Sports analyst Jason Whitlock does not shy away from calling out what he believes to be undeserved hype. His current target is the Colorado Buffaloes’ Deion Sanders, who is generally considered to be one of the best coaches in college football.
The Buffaloes have enjoyed a turnaround season and are still in the picture for the Big 12 title game. Things took a nasty turn, however, Saturday against the Kansas Jayhawks. Colorado (8-3, 6-2 Big 12) was soundly defeated 37-21, and those who held doubts about the Buffaloes finally had evidence for their criticism.
(CU is still in a four-way tie for the Big 12 lead entering the final weekend of the regular season.)
Jason Whitlock took the opportunity to sprinkle salt on the wounded Buffs. On the Wednesday episode of his show “Fearless,” Whitlock expressed joy at Colorado's loss to Kansas and went further by placing his hopes on Oklahoma State (3-8, 0-8) to deal the final blow on Friday.
“Now I have hope, and it's in Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State. … Mike Gundy is a better coach than Deion Sanders,” Whitlock said.
He went on to give reasons why he believes the Buffs are overrated, claiming that Colorado was simply “taking advantage of a weak conference.”
