Deion Sanders is a master at motivating his players

Regardless of your opinion of Deion Sanders, you can't deny that Coach Prime's words energize a group of young athletes. Earlier tonight in the lead-up to the clash with the Stanford Cardinal in Week 7, the Colorado Buffaloes shared through their Instagram account a short clip of the type of atmosphere Sanders brings to the locker room.

In the clip, you can see how the coach energizes his players with one word, "now", and players sing it alongside him in unison. At the beginning of the pep talk, Sanders told his players:

"It's only one word today, it's only one word. Now"

Deion Sanders is known for using a variety of tactics to motivate his players, usually to positive effect. Back in Week 3, when Colorado State's Jay Norvell took issue with him using sunglasses during games, the Buffs coach owned the criticism and gifted the squad shades like his. They went on to defeat the Rams in overtime, with Deion's son Shedeur playing a key role.

After the Week 4 42-6 defeat to the Oregon Ducks, videos circulated through social media of the coach reading his defeated players messages from star wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter to be allowed back into the team for the game versus USC. While the Buffs lost to the Trojans, they almost completed a fourth-quarter comeback with the final score being 48-41.

Deion Sanders' overhaul of Colorado

Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes are a completely new team when compared to last year. In 2022, the Boulder school had a record of 1-11 which makes their 2023 record of 4-2 into Week 7 a resounding success already.

The team roster is quite literally a brand new one, with Prime making strides in the recruiting game. The Buffs have 86 new players this year, with nine of those having transferred in from Jackson State with Sanders. Controversially, Sanders made 24 players leave the school in the transfer portal.

The biggest impact on the team has come from Prime's own son, Shedeur, who has thrown for 2,020 yards with 16 touchdown passes and two interceptions.
