Like many other ex-NFL stars, Michael Vick decided to become a football coach following his retirement. He spent 13 seasons as a quarterback in the league, playing for the Falcons, the Eagles, the Jets and the Steelers. In December 2024, the 4x Pro Bowler was named as the new head coach of the Norfolk State Spartans.
Amidst the preparations, Vick decided to have some fun during a training session. On Instagram, the ex-quarterback shared a clip of himself on the field ready to throw the ball and show off his arm talent. He was accompanied by Norfolk State Director of Football Operations, Demarcus McMillan, and renowned professional boxer, Terence Crawford.
Michael Vick lobbed a long pass to McMillan, who was being guarded on his route by Crawford. However, he managed to catch the ball while falling backwards during his attempt.

Before joining Norfolk State, Vick served as the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Legends, a team that played in the now-defunct Alliance of American Football, a professional minor league. He spent just one season with them as the league went bankrupt in 2019.
The former quarterback has also received the backing of Colorado head coach and 2x Super Bowl champion Deion Sanders. After Vick was announced as the Spartans' new head coach, Coach Prime shared a post on social media encouraging his fans to support and show their love to Vick on his new journey.
"Let's go baby! We've got to support, encourage, assist & show consistent Love to Coach Vick! He's forever changed to QB position @cfb @NFL & he will have tremendous impact on Coaching & Leading men to their true destinations. Love ya my brother," Coach Prime wrote.
Michael Vick revealed the reason behind joining Norfolk State
In March, Michael Vick had his first spring practice with the Spartans. After Day 1 of practice, he opened up about the factors that influenced his decision to join Norfolk State.
Vick stated that the primary reason for him was to help develop young talent.
"I certainly felt like the time was right for me," Vick said. "I just wanted to do something that my kids can look at and see that I'm still thriving and sill working hard and still trying to be the best version of myself."
Last season, the Spartans finished with an underwhelming 4-8 record. It remains to be seen if having a retired 4x Pro Bowler as the head coach helps the program become a playoff contender this upcoming season.
